if my ancestors could live well into their 80s by drinking, smoking, eating bacon and lard, and keeping the company of good people, then dammit i am determined to do the same!
i think people could live longer back then because there wasn’t a lot of stress. people were nicer. people didnt worry so much. they didnt do so much as they do today. they ate what they could afford and they were happy. you grew what you needed in your garden and all the rest could be gotten at the corner store. my grandpa never bought skim milk because he said it was “for the pigs. people drink whole milk, not that watered down shit”
they were not bashed with media images every day. diets on the news, working out for the new year, “workout inspirtation” and “dieting motivation” pics on twitter, tumblr, facebook, etc.
im doing a paper on diet fads in america and the psychology and economics of dieting through the objective lens, quinoa - known, sold, and bought for its “health qualities” and “exoticism”. this class seriously ruined all food for me but im super stoked to look into the topic further tomorrow at the library ~~~
